FAQs

Here are answers to a series of frequently asked questions relating to the Portfolio ILM coaching qualification programmes:

What are the time requirements/ how long does it take?

In addition to the tutor-led input, there is an element of research/ pre-work between modules (typically 1-2 hours per module). In order to gain the ILM qualification students are required to complete the assessed activities, consisting of work-based assignments and the completion of at least 20* hours of coaching and subsequent reflective practices. (*18 hours for L5 Certificate ). Each cohort is given a target date of 12 months to submit for assessment; you can submit earlier (if you're ready) or your target submission date can be extended.

How many students per programme?

Programme numbers are restricted to ensure that participants receive a high level of tutor support and individual supervision. Typically, cohorts will typically not exceed 10 members (virtual classroom) or 12 members for face-to-face workshops. We find that students prefer to work in tight-knit groups and thus benefit from a higher level of tutorial/ peer support.

What happens if I can’t attend one of the scheduled workshops/ virtual sessions?

Because this is a qualification programme, you are required to complete a specified number of guided learning hours. Your tutor will discuss options on an individual case-by-case basis; these may include additional tutorials, or attendance on a session with another cohort.

Where are the open programmes held?

Our Level 7 programmes are held at Ashorne Hill, Leamington Spa which offers centrally-located learning facilities and high-quality accommodation.  Virtual programmes (ILM Level 5) are delivered online using bespoke virtual classroom technology.

How do I book a place on one of your programmes?

Access to all ILM qualification programmes is via application; complete and submit the relevant application form. Your application will be reviewed by the admissions team and you’ll generally be advised of a decision within 3 working days. Please check that you can attend all module dates before making an application.

What are the fees for the open programmes?

Fees for our open programmes are published in the relevant brochures. Fees for 2024 are:

Fees include all tutorial sessions (F2F workshops/ virtual sessions), ILM registration fees, comprehensive study materials, ILM assessment, individual coaching supervision, access to online platform/ attendance on day-delegate basis* at Ashorne Hill, including lunch. (Excludes accommodation.) *L7 cohorts.

Do you offer payment plans?

Our Terms and Conditions require payment in full before the course start date, and this is a condition of acceptance. For students who are self-funding we may offer a discretionary split-payment route; this is not automatic and any request for a payment plan should be discussed with the relevant Course Tutor in the first instance.
